November 19, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: Abu Dhabi is enhancing its realisation into an international smart mobility centre with the deployment of Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi on state-of-the-art autonomous transport platforms. The introduction of the Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi marks a significant breakthrough towards the emirate’s intention to achieve intelligent, sustainable urban travel.

The Abu Dhabi Transport Future is anchored on nine innovative deals
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) also signed a few strategic agreements during the DRIFTx 2025 exhibition, as part of the first Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week 2025, which will transform how people move within the emirate. Such partnerships are cross-air, cross-ground, cross-sea, and logistic and make Abu Dhabi one of the pioneers of autonomous mobility.
The Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi program started with a collaboration with the German company, Benteler Mobility, a company that deals with intelligent vehicle systems and self-driving technology. The two of them will work together to create a pilot operational model that will assess the feasibility of operations and infrastructure requirements for a mass deployment of these vehicles.
This collaboration consists of mobility-needs evaluation, development of a smart-bus operating system, and an effective technical and regulatory examination. Implementation will be supervised by a special ICT task force, so that buses are of the best safety, efficiency, and integration practices.
Broad-Based Independent Ecosystem
In addition to the Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi is taking a holistic approach to autonomous transportation. The ITC has collaborated with e& in an AI-based project to control drone pilots. These drones observe the state of traffic and do real-time analysis of data and directly transmit the footage to the Traffic Management Centre. This enables congestion to be reported, illegal parking to be reported, and accidents to be reported more accurately than previously.

This is a plan that will see the Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi work in a tightly knit smart mobility environment.
These efforts were emphasised by the Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, Dr Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli: “These agreements will make the ITC the leader in the transition to smart, sustainable mobility in Abu Dhabi. Our strategic partnership with local and foreign partners will entail the application of new and innovative solutions that will ensure high levels of safety and efficiency.
The Built-in Infrastructure of Connection and Cybersecurity
In order to serve the Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi and other autonomous systems, the emirate is spending big on digital infrastructure. A collaboration with e& will provide the most recent connectivity technologies, such as 5G and 5.5G networks, in autonomous driving application-specific designs. Onboard Wi-Fi will also be helpful to the passengers to guarantee them a connected experience.
Since security is critical to autonomous systems, ITC has agreed with the UAE Cyber Security Council to enhance cybersecurity. Threat intelligence sharing, coordinated response in the case of an incident, joint technical exercises, and comprehensive training are all included in the collaboration and present a safe digital platform to the Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi and other future transport systems.
The independent transportation in Abu Dhabi is already out of planning. The emirate has self-driven cabs, autonomous high-speed transit systems, and mini electric cabs. It has a fleet of 17 cars serving Yas and Saadiyat Islands and records a great safety record, as there have not been any accidents in the traffic since the beginning of service.
The Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi will be based on this achievement, proposing effective and sustainable solutions, which will supplement existing services. The pilot operations will also provide useful information on mobility patterns, passenger demands, and integration issues that will then be used to expand the operations to the rest of the emirate.
Economic and Environmental Benefits
Bringing the Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi is in line with the sustainability objective and the desire of Abu Dhabi to minimise carbon emissions. The emirate also seeks to become the first to use zero-emissions buses, which will have 20 per cent of buses using sustainable energy by 2030 and fully by 2050.\

The financial implication is huge. The project will make the emirate a regional manufacturing centre in terms of smart mobility and investment by drawing worldwide technology alliances and making Abu Dhabi a test bed of its own. This will not only provide local employment opportunities but also make it easy to transfer technologies and drive the new industries based on autonomous transport.
The Mini Robo Buses in Abu Dhabi are not just a technological innovation; they are the ambitious vision of the future of the city of Abu Dhabi, a sustainable, efficient, connected city. These smart buses driving along the streets will make a revolution in everyday life of traffic, relieve the environment and establish new standards of smart urban development at local and international levels.
