UAE- 13th January, 2026: The cultural and economic environment of the region is to be changed as a new Dh500-million mega Sharjah Exhibition Centre and convention centre will be launched, which was announced by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah.
An Action Plan In The Development Of Sharjah
The ambitious project was unveiled by Sheikh Dr Sultan and that is a significant move towards the long term infrastructure and events plan of Sharjah. The modern state-of-art Sharjah exhibition centre hall is to be ready in 2027 and it will further make the emirate a desired venue in international and regional events.
The new locale will be a versatile center that will host numerous exhibitions, conventions, festivals, and cultural activities. The Sharjah exhibition centre is meant to increase the international hosting capacity of events in Sharjah and promote tourism, business exchange and cultural interactions all year round.
Location And Design
The Sharjah exhibition centre project was initially scheduled to be located close to the Sharjah Mosque; however, engineers chose to locate the project elsewhere close to Emirates- Al Dhaid- Khorfakkan roads with easy access and traffic flow. The property cost Dh146 million, which is an important point to highlight that the government was strategic in choosing connectivity and access.
Construction will commence immediately with designs being almost finalized. The project planners are planning to deliver it in 22 months, and the official opening is planned in November 2027 until the 46th Sharjah International Book Fair.

There have already been events like the Xposure International Photography Festival that have been reallocated to the new location and more events to come.
