Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially married after exchanging vows in a highly secretive yet spectacular ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday night, bringing together two of the biggest names in music and sports.
The wedding, which had been kept under tight wraps until after the ceremony, was confirmed when a giant marquee outside the iconic Midtown Manhattan venue lit up with the words “JUST&T MARRIED,” signaling the couple had officially tied the knot.
According to Swift’s publicist, Tree Paine, the couple opted for an unconventional wedding party. Rather than having bridesmaids and groomsmen, Swift’s younger brother, Austin Swift, served as her man of honor, while Kelce’s older brother and “New Heights” podcast co-host, Jason Kelce, stood beside the groom as his best man.
Luxury fashion and timeless elegance
Swift wore a custom Christian Dior Haute Couture wedding gown designed by Jonathan Anderson, paired with bespoke Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry. Kelce also wore Christian Dior Haute Couture, creating a coordinated look for the couple’s much-anticipated wedding.
The event blended luxury with intimacy despite taking place in one of the world’s most recognizable entertainment arenas.
Celebrity guests from sports and Hollywood
The guest list reflected the couple’s extraordinary influence across entertainment and professional sports.
Hollywood stars Bradley Cooper, Zoë Kravitz, Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke, Chris Rock and Steven Spielberg were among those attending. Models Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss also joined the celebrations, alongside singer Camila Cabello and author Jenny Han.
Representing the sports world were Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and several of Kelce’s teammates, including running back Kareem Hunt. Retired NFL legend Tom Brady, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp, New York Giants receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, and ESPN personalities Joe Buck and Stephen A. Smith were also in attendance.
Adam Sandler delivers the biggest surprise
One of the evening’s biggest surprises came when actor and comedian Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.
While his role had not been anticipated, Sandler has developed close ties with Kelce in recent years. The Chiefs tight end appeared in Sandler’s 2025 film Happy Gilmore 2, while Sandler previously joined Jason and Travis Kelce on their popular New Heights podcast.
The marriage announcement described Sandler simply as “a friend” of the couple.
Extraordinary secrecy surrounds the ceremony
Despite attracting enormous public attention, the wedding remained remarkably private.
Outside Madison Square Garden, long lines of black SUVs transported guests dressed in tuxedos and evening gowns while thousands of fans gathered outside hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrations.
Guests reportedly had their phones restricted during the ceremony, resulting in an unusual absence of social media posts from inside the venue. The strict privacy measures ensured that details remained hidden until after the vows had been exchanged.
Brief rainfall also brought relief to the summer heat shortly after news of the marriage became public.
A relationship followed around the world
Swift and Kelce’s romance has captivated fans since 2023, when the NFL star famously attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour concerts at Arrowhead Stadium after publicly revealing that he had hoped to meet the singer.
Their relationship quickly became one of the world’s most talked-about celebrity pairings, regularly dominating headlines as Swift attended Chiefs games and Kelce appeared at various stops during her record-breaking tour.
Friday’s wedding marks the first marriage for both Swift, 36, and Kelce, 36.
The union also represents the coming together of two global entertainment powerhouses—Swift, one of the world’s best-selling recording artists, and Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion widely regarded as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history.
Fans celebrate outside the arena
Although few members of the public were able to witness the ceremony, enthusiastic fans gathered outside Madison Square Garden throughout the day to celebrate the occasion.
Lori Powers, who traveled from north of New York City, said Swift’s music had been part of many important moments in her life.
“Her music is the soundtrack behind so many amazing moments in my life—relationships, friends, my husband and my kids,” she said while waiting outside the venue.
Another fan, Cecily Hall, described the atmosphere as unforgettable.
“Just being here and witnessing all the energy and the excitement, it’s so much fun,” Hall said. “The combination of sports and music makes perfect sense as to why they’re at Madison Square Garden today.”
With its combination of celebrity glamour, tight security, and enormous public interest, the wedding has been widely compared to a modern royal event. By choosing Madison Square Garden—an arena known for legendary sporting contests and sold-out concerts—Swift and Kelce transformed one of America’s most famous venues into the setting for one of the most anticipated celebrity weddings in recent memory.
