After almost a month of lull, the UAE has once again been targeted by Iran with fresh attacks. The UAE has strongly condemned

the unprovoked Iranian aggression, targeting civilian sites using missiles and drones as fresh strikes were launched today by Iran in which three Indian nationals were moderately injured.

Severity of the attacks

According to official updates as of today, 4th of May 2026, UAE air defenses engaged 12 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 4 drones. Three of these were intercepted by UAE air defence systems, and one fell into the sea.

A fire broke out at Fujairah Oil Industry Zone but not due to a direct hit. Reports indicate it was caused by debris from intercepted threats.

Schools moved to distance learning

The impact of this attack was immediate. The Ministry of Education announced distance learning for schools to ensure their safety and wellbeing. The situation will be reviewed on Friday, 8th May 2026, and could be extended, if necessary.

The UAE has warned this is a dangerous escalation, a direct threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity, and a violation of international law and the UN Charter, making it clear that it will not tolerate any threat to its sovereignty, and reserves the full right to respond to protect the country and everyone in it.

In a message posted on X, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), made it clear that targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable, and the UAE is holding Iran fully responsible.
