June 25, 2025 | Saudi Arabia: A historical agreement on airport security has been signed between the UK and Saudi Arabia. The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia and the UK Government have signed a historic One-Stop Security Agreement and this represents a real step forward for international travel. This agreement will allow UK flyers traveling from the UK to Saudi Arabian airports to pass through without experiencing additional security checks along the way.

The UK government has been working with Saudi authorities to enhance aviation relations between both countries. The agreement is indicative of the increasingly collaborative environment between our two countries and the growing familiarity with each other’s security protocols.

This step is part of the larger vision by Saudi Arabia to modernize its airports and capture a large international travel market, and the country is investing heavily in its aviation sector as this agreement is a major achievement in being able to provide an optimal passenger experience.

In addition, UK flyers who utilize Saudi Arabian airports will attract an enhanced overall travel experience from the One-Stop Security agreement between the UK and Saudi Arabia, which will streamline overall travel, improving efficiency, reducing wait times and increasing travel between the two countries, removing the requirement for multiple security checks.

Perks Of One Stop Security Agreement

1. Less Hassle, More Travel– one security check-up will be a boon to UK flyers

2. Less Wait, More Travel- Long layovers are days gone by. This new agreement results in UK-Saudi travel that will genuinely be unbelievably simple.

3. More Travel Clarity – This agreement will certainly enhance travel for UK flyers to Saudi Arabia, giving more people opportunities for enhancing business ties and experiencing endless cultures.

4. New Very Different Airport Experience – Airports in Saudi Arabia are developing a very different, modernized experience and this agreement is absolutely evidence of that.

5. Stronger Relationships, Friendlier Skies – The UK and Saudi Arabia already have a strong partnership, and this agreement helps this solid foundation.

A Win-Win For UK Flyers

The One-Stop Security Agreement says that security checks performed in the UK are equivalent to those performed in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, passengers who are transferring (via airports in Saudi Arabia, either Riyadh or Jeddah) who have already completed security in the UK (London, Manchester etc.) will not have to go through additional security checks. This should greatly improve the experience of UK flyers via Saudi Arabia to named international destinations in Asia, Africa or the Middle East.

Given the reductions in security clearance processes along with fewer security measures for unique flights, ultimate wait and travel times will get significantly shorter with a smarter and more pleasant experience for the passenger.

This version is more conversational and relatable, using everyday language and illustrations to communicate the benefits of the agreement. Moreover, Waiting times for UK flyers should also be lessened allowing for a better travel experience from one destination to another as a result of receiving a single security clearance.

This initiative forms part of wider strategies to improve the overall functioning of Saudi airports and to develop a significant international travel industry, for which funding is being attracted to the aviation sector.

Similarly, UK flyers utilizing Saudi Arabian airports should also look for an improved overall travel experience because of the One-Stop Security agreement between the UK and Saudi Arabia, enhancing travel efficiency, reducing waiting times, and promoting travel between the UK and Saudi Arabia, since UK flyers will no longer have to go through duplicative security checks. Hence, the agreement is undoubtedly a win-win – more opportunities for travel and trade, and more friends for UK flyers.
