July 8, 2025 | Dubai, UAE – Recently a study was conducted, involving a robot teacher in UAE was conducted by the Dubai-based Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), which aimed to observe the effect of involving AI and Robotics in early elementary education. Following the study, many experts argue that robots should complement a student’s academic journey, and not turn it into a competition of human vs robot teacher.

Formal Study Conducted On the Application Of Robot Teacher In UAE

The groundbreaking study conducted by the RIT, Dubai shed new light on application of technology by introducing artificial intelligence and robot teacher in UAE into children’s early education education. The research found that when young students learned with the help of the robot teacher in UAE-based experiment their academic performance improved by an average of 8% compared to conventional ways, showing a significant efficiency gap between human vs robot teacher.

At the core of this experiment was Duet, a smart robotic teaching assistant equipped with the latest machine learning algorithms and powered by the Robot Operating System (ROS). Duet, the robot teacher in UAE easily assessed each student’s capabilities by analyzing test scores, duration of completing tasks and emotional cues like facial expressions and engagement levels. Based on the data collected real-time, Duet tailors the learning material and difficulty level corresponding to the student’s individual proficiency and analysis.

The study was headed by Dr. Jinane Mounsef, the chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing Sciences at RIT Dubai. She emphasized that the study was built upon the key quality of robot teacher in UAE, that it can be personalized and adaptive for each learner that goes beyond the limitations of a standard classroom. Amid the debate of human vs robot teacher, personalisation becomes a key leverage.

Dr Mounsef, said,“Through post-diagnostic exams we found that the experimental group of students using the AI-robot system showed a significant improvement rate over the control group. This demonstrates that such systems can provide a powerful tool to improve efficiency and augment education outcomes.”

While progressive, experts worry that these additions might lead to a gap of learning in the form of the human vs robot teacher, while education should be a holistic integration of both, human teachers and robot teacher in UAE in the form of enhancing a building of thoughtful and child-centric. Several related studies that have been conducted in recent years converge to an integrated conclusion that AI can improve early learning experience, but it should act as a support system, not a substitute, for traditional developmental experiences.

  • A report by the University of Cambridge, in 2022, shows that use of the programmable robots in group settings can help build essential skills such as teamwork and step-by-step thinking in children as young as four, when used with guidance.
  • Research from MIT Media Lab and Tufts University (Bers, 2018) shows that screen-free robotics such as KIBO can help learning basic coding while maintaining creativity, sensory engagement and social aspects.

Call For A More Nuanced Approach To Educate Students

Educational leaders highlight that, in the ongoing conversation of human vs robot teacher, the robot teacher in UAE should accompany, not lead the learning journey.

Shifa Yusuffali, CEO and Founder of IdeaCrate and MENALAC Board Member says, “AI and robotics can become interesting companions in that journey, but never the driver. Children need connection more than they need content. They need to play before they can program. And they need to be seen — not just as future learners or digital natives, but as whole human beings with their own pace, questions, and stories.”

Experts agree that child development occurs best in an environment where children’s curiosity, movement, imagination, and emotional needs are not compromised, and  education must remain rooted in human connection, exploration, and play, with robot teacher in UAE best kept as an additional resource.
