July 17, 2025 | Dubai, UAE – The trading scam in Dubai has become worse in 2025, exploiting more victims, greater losses, and minimum recovery of finances.

An Indian Bank Consultant In Dubai fell victim to these traps and lost about Dh100,000. The victim has filed a police report in Al Riffa Station and is paying the monthly debt with more than half of his salary.

Indian Expat Loses To Trading Scam In Dubai

The expat, who was from Andhra Pradesh, earned Dh14,000 a month. He shares his story of the elaborate trading scam in Dubai through WhatsApp where scammers used Indian phone numbers.

He was added to a Whatsapp group called Stock Market Strategy C4, which had 137 members in April. The group was filled with fake testimonials, screenshots of profits, and staged praise for the admins, who were actually running the con.

In a while, an admin privately offered help to the victim to open a trading account on a fake site, ArmorCapital.net. The victim wired Dh 65,000 to a UAE account and again, almost Dh 35,000 from his Indian accounts. The scammers sent fake documents, including a certificate claiming to be from the U.S. SEC, to gain his trust.

Soon, the scammers demanded Dh 620,000 more, claiming an IPO had been purchased on his behalf. On refusal, the website vanished, trapping the expat in the trading scam in dubai.

The victim expressed his distress, “I tried calling them, but most numbers were switched off. The few that rang got cut off as soon as I mentioned the scam. I shared my story so others don’t fall into the same trap. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”

Precautions Issued By Various UAE Public Sectors To Avoid Scams

  1. The UAE Ministry of Interior (MoI) requests citizens to confirm the licensing of any trading or investment platform, by checking the Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA) website.
  1. The Telecommunications & Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), in partnership with the SCA, warns against deals promising instant or surprisingly high returns and recommends verifying links and promotions through official regulatory channels before clicking.
  1. Authorities emphasize on comparing broker or platform details to official registries online such as:
    1. SCA’s “licensed companies” list
    2. DFSA’s alerts
    3. ADGM’s FSRA public register
  1. Regulators like FSRA and DFSA alert citizens about scammers impersonating licensed bodies via social media apps. They advise contacting regulators directly in case of unsolicited payment requests.

  1. Victims should report suspicious activity via multiple official channels, such as the MoI’s “MOIUAE” app, the UAE cybercrime reporting portal, Dubai Police’s cybercrime hotline, DFSA and SCA complaint systems to ensure a secure environment for everyone.
  1. The UAE Cyber Security Council, along with the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority suggests never sharing personal data, avoiding suspicious links, and using strong verification methods to avoid scams.

Victims of trading scam in Dubai are requested to immediately report the crime via the official MOI UAE app or  the Dubai Police E-Crime portal, which are made for fast and secure reporting of such crimes.

If the complaint is registered within an early time frame, there are real chances of recovering the money, provided it was transferred to a UAE bank account. As authorities may be able to freeze the funds before they are moved or withdrawn by the scammers, if the scam is reported quickly.

Trading Scam In Dubai Rise Year To Year

The trading scam in Dubai is surging dangerously. According to reports, last year, UAE residents lost over Dh 30M, marking a sharp 43% surge from the year before. Experts even predict the losses could hit over 100M in AED by 2028. In 2025, the cases are rising fast, with victims around Dh36,000 – Dh180,000 in forex and fake platform trading scams in Dubai.
