The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), which stands for the UAE, took part in the fourth G20 Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction held in Cape Town, South Africa. The meeting brought together ministers, the most distinguished disaster management professionals, and representatives of key world organizations to debate and to come up with strategies for minimizing the effects of natural disasters and strengthening community preparedness through the formation of global policies.

The UAE team was headed by H.E. Ali Rashid Al Neyadi, the Director General of NCEMA. The participation was proof of the UAE’s permanent dedication to the region and the world in cooperation for disaster risk management. The G20 Ministerial Meeting got the opportunity to be a facilitator for ideas exchange and new approaches to coping with climate and emergency challenges across the globe to come up.

UAE Emphasizes Global Partnerships and Innovation

H.E. Al Neyadi at the G20 Ministerial Meeting told the UAE’s narrative of establishing a solid national disaster management framework. He pointed out the usage of new tech, such as AI and predictive analytics, in the National Early Warning System of the country. The system thus enables swift and precise actions during emergencies.

He remarked that disaster risk reduction was one of the main pillars of the UAE’s national security policy. It also helped the country to become sustainable and resilient. The G20 Ministerial Meeting provided the UAE to demonstrate its success in combining disaster response with innovation and long-term planning.

The UAE delegation was present at both the technical and ministerial sessions. The topics of discussion included the development of early warnings, anticipatory financing, and capacity building. The goal was to create stronger ties between G20 members and partner organizations. H.E. Al Neyadi called upon the nations to unite to set the early warning standards, which would consequently enhance the joint responses during the world crises.

Sharing Experiences and Strengthening Co-operation

At the G20 Ministerial Meeting, NCEMA shared with the world the vital aspects of the country’s management of the COVID-19 pandemic. Delegates presented the book entitled “The Road to Success – The UAE Model in Managing the COVID-19 Crisis.” The ebook shows that the UAE was able to control the virus thanks to its planned moves, flexible heads, and tech-based operation systems.

NCEMA presented to the audience various national projects that foster community resilience. These activities are mainly aimed at providing aid to the disadvantaged and upgrading the readiness of the areas for potential natural or man-made disasters. The comprehensive strategy of the UAE includes social, economic, and environmental dimensions, which makes it a great example of sustainable risk management.

UAE delegation’s participation at the event included multiple meetings with representatives from other countries and organizations. The talks made it possible to establish new avenues for cooperation on a disaster and risk management basis between the two parties. NCEMA reiterated its commitment to forge strong ties that would ultimately increase global readiness and response capabilities.

H.E. Al Neyadi’s speech at the G20 Ministerial Meeting once more pointed out UAE’s conviction that teamwork and creativity are the main global resilience factors. He asked nations to keep pouring money into the tech industry and knowledge swapping. Such activities, according to him, are the prerequisites for the safety of people and maintenance of order during crisis times.

Through the active participation of the UAE in the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction, its position as a leader in promoting safety, sustainability, and international unity has been reflected. The country has always been through NCEMA in giving support to global projects that facilitate disaster readiness and minimize the occurrence of risks in the future for everyone.
