The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), which stands for the UAE, took part in the fourth G20 Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction held in Cape Town, South Africa. The meeting brought together ministers, the most distinguished disaster management professionals, and representatives of key world organizations to debate and to come up with strategies for minimizing the effects of natural disasters and strengthening community preparedness through the formation of global policies.

The UAE team was headed by H.E. Ali Rashid Al Neyadi, the Director General of NCEMA. The participation was proof of the UAE’s permanent dedication to the region and the world in cooperation for disaster risk management. The G20 Ministerial Meeting got the opportunity to be a facilitator for ideas exchange and new approaches to coping with climate and emergency challenges across the globe to come up.

H.E. Al Neyadi at the G20 Ministerial Meeting told the UAE’s narrative of establishing a solid national disaster management framework. Delegates presented the book entitled “The Road to Success – The UAE Model in Managing the COVID-19 Crisis.” The ebook shows that the UAE was able to control the virus thanks to its planned moves, flexible heads, and tech-based operation systems.

NCEMA presented to the audience various national projects that foster community resilience. These activities are mainly aimed at providing aid to the disadvantaged and upgrading the readiness of the areas for potential natural or man-made disasters.
