UAE- 12th January 2026: The Wynn Al Marjan Island, which is scheduled to be launched at the beginning of 2027 on the Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, the UAE, is a new milestone of the luxury resort design. Being the first built-in resort in the Middle East, the project is a combination between the usual Wynn design identity and a profound reaction to the Arabian Gulf context.
Design Vision: A Journey of arrival to discovery
Designing an Experience Like Film.
The design philosophy behind the interior design of the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort has been compared to the philosophy of film making, where every space is sequenced well to unveil itself like a movie would. The check-in is not only practical but also meant to trigger a sense of surprise, expectation and gradual revelation of the guest who advances the lobby to the further realms of the resort.
Todd-Average Lenahan, who is the President and Chief Creative Officer of Wynn Design and Development, has stated that the lobby and arrival pathway have been designed more like set design and that it sets the initial scene of the guest experience.
Compromise Of Local And Global Influences
Reaction to the Environment of Ras Al Khaimah.
Although clearly identifiable as a Wynn property in terms of craft, proportion and attention to detail, the design has also the deliberate reaction to its situation in the UAE. Space, privacy, rest, and comfort are considered more important in the designs of the resorts, which are oriented to the traditional local ethics of discretion and restfulness and not on splendor.
The Wynn Al Marjan Island resort has guest rooms envisioned as cozy, stratified spaces, which are supposed to experience cozy and safe yet at the same time glorify openness and sight lines.
Spirit of Wynn Middle East Context
Although the legacy of Wynn is connected to bright, dynamic spaces, like the one in Las Vegas, the current project reinvigorates that essence through the scale and composition, where the energy and drama are created not with the help of colourful painting or intensity.
Sun, Sea and Site-Specific Orientation
Natural Beauty Positioning. The orientation of the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort gives it relation to the Arabian Gulf- the building is designed to have an open view to the open sea to assure that the guests are under constant contact with the water horizon and natural lighting. This movement of the sun on the Gulf was also a fundamental consideration in the way spaces were laid out so as to best receive light and views during the day.

Art Integrated From Early Stages
More Than Decoration
Art has not been added to the Wynn Al Marjan Island at the end but rather incorporated into the design at its very early stages. There were a few notable works that aided in the shaping of entire rooms that informed scale, palette and proportion. The collection includes both antique works and contemporary commissions, representing the history of the region and the influence of the motives on art and offering the visitor to engage in art as the part of the experience.
The methodology of this kind brings to being dynamic environments in which art and architecture enrich one another, and the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort itself is a multidimensional cultural space.
Highlights Of Architectural And Physical Design
Tower and Layout
The Wynn Al Marjan Island resort also has a 70 storey hotel tower that will be designed by the in-house architectural team of Wynn, and which will be 360 meters tall and will have a 360 degree view of the water fronts. Natural light penetrates to the depths of the spaces through floor-to-ceiling windows and open and landscaped open places. The entire experience is elegance, scale and sophisticated space choreography, unlike in the traditional design of resorts.

A New Landmark On The Gulf
Wynn Al Marjan Island is not just a hotel, it is a destination created in a ground up manner so as to combine architecture, natural beauty, story telling and hospitality in a single place. Its filmic treatment of space and time strives to rebrand what guests are used to expect of a luxury resort architecture in the Middle East: a region, where every moment is made, and every view planned.
