DP World announced a partnership with Parkin on 3 November 2025 to introduce barrierless parking at Dubai’s Al Aweer Central Fruit and Vegetable Market. The planned system covers approximately 2,500 spaces for light vehicles and 500 truck spaces.
How the parking system works
According to DP World’s announcement, the automated system uses number-plate recognition and real-time data to manage access without physical barriers. The partners aim to reduce congestion and make vehicle movements more efficient for traders, delivery operators and visitors.
Why Al Aweer matters
The market is a major wholesale fresh-produce hub. Parking and access affect how quickly goods can move through the supply chain, particularly when deliveries contain perishable food.
The parking project supports wider plans to expand the market. DP World said its agreement with Dubai Municipality, signed the previous year, aimed to double the market’s size and strengthen its connections to international food markets.
