Concordia, the non-profit behind billion-dollar global initiatives, is bringing its Horizon Summit to the Middle East in May 2027 — and Dubai was chosen to host it.
There are conferences that fill hotel ballrooms, produce glossy reports and dissolve quietly into the calendar. And then there are gatherings where the conversations actually turn into something: a billion-dollar conservation commitment, a framework that unlocks hundreds of millions for African infrastructure, a joint venture that improves the lives of a hundred million people.
Concordia runs the second kind. And in May 2027, it is coming to the Middle East for the first time.
Dubai will host the Concordia Horizon Summit under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE. The announcement was made in New York last month during the Concordia Annual Summit held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, in itself a signal of the company the event keeps.
What Concordia Actually Is?
Founded in the United States in 2011, Concordia is a non-profit organisation built around a specific belief: that the most complex global problems get solved fastest when the right people are physically in the same room. Not on a call. Not exchanging position papers. In a room, talking, building trust and turning alignment into action.
Its annual summits in New York have become a fixture on the global diplomatic and business calendar. The guest list tends to include heads of government, Fortune 500 executives, development finance leaders and the kind of cross-sector decision makers who rarely appear on the same stage.
What sets Concordia apart from the circuit of international forums is its track record. Previous editions have produced Prosper Africa, a financing mechanism built to move more than 800 million US dollars of private capital into African infrastructure and climate resilience through public-private structures. Project Fury, developed by IDE Global through the Concordia platform, targets one million female entrepreneurs and the livelihoods of 100 million people through small business support and government partnerships. In 2024, African Parks used the Annual Summit to announce a one-billion-dollar conservation initiative covering thirty of Africa’s most critical protected natural areas by 2030. Abbott Laboratories and Seed Global Health committed together to building a Centre of Excellence for Maternal Health in Malawi.
These are not announcements made for press releases. They are commitments that outlast the event itself.
Dubai Keeps Getting Chosen. That Is Not a Coincidence.
The Concordia Horizon Summit will be organised in partnership with the Department of Finance for the Government of Dubai, which speaks to how seriously the city is treating the opportunity.
His Excellency Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director General of the Department of Finance for the Government of Dubai, described the selection as a reflection of international confidence in Dubai’s standing as a destination where business and investment decisions genuinely get made. The summit, he said, serves as a platform to anticipate economic trends, connect expertise across sectors and create openings for cooperation that neither governments nor businesses could easily build alone.
Dubai’s case for hosting is not hard to make. The city has spent years positioning itself as the venue of choice for gatherings that carry real stakes, from the World Government Summit to Expo 2020, from COP28 to Arabian Travel Market. The infrastructure exists, the connectivity is unmatched across the region and the city has a demonstrated ability to turn international conversations into tangible economic outcomes.
Rodney Ferguson, CEO of Concordia, said the alignment between Concordia’s mission and Dubai’s positioning was obvious. Dubai sits at the crossroads of innovation, investment and economic growth, he said, and Concordia brings voices from across sectors into a single conversation. The combination, he suggested, would make the Dubai edition the most significant Horizon Summit the organisation has held.
What to Expect?
Specific details on programme, speakers and thematic focus will be released in the months ahead. What organisers have confirmed is that the summit will include announcements of high-impact economic and development initiatives alongside landmark partnership agreements, with a particular emphasis on connecting Middle Eastern markets with global capital and expertise.
May 2027. Dubai. The conversations that produce real outcomes are coming here.
