Chandigarh, June 24, 2025: Diljit Dosanjh’s much-awaited film, Sardaar Ji 3, is making headlines for reasons beyond its entertainment value. This new Punjabi action comedy, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, will not release in India. The film is set for a worldwide release on June 27, 2025, but only in overseas markets. The decision comes after strong calls for a boycott and a ban on Pakistani actors in Indian cinema.

The controversy around Sardaar Ji 3 started when fans noticed Hania Aamir in the official trailer. Her presence led to instant anger on Indian social media. Many people used hashtags like #BoycottDiljit and #BanSardaarJi3. They accused Diljit Dosanjh of ignoring national feelings after the recent Pahalgam terror attack and India’s military response. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also stepped in. They asked the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) not to give the film a certificate. This was because of the casting of Hania Aamir and other Pakistani actors.

What Led to the Ban on Pakistani Actors?

The ban on Pakistani actors in Indian films is not new. It became stricter after the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025. Following this attack, India took strong action with Operation Sindoor. The Indian film industry and many citizens felt that working with Pakistani artists was not right at this time. Hania Aamir’s Instagram account was blocked in India after she reportedly made anti-India remarks. This made her casting even more controversial.

The makers of Sardaar Ji 3 tried to keep Hania Aamir’s role a secret at first. Her scenes were missing from early teasers. But when fans saw her in the full trailer, the backlash grew. The film’s YouTube trailer is now blocked for Indian users. The message says, “The uploader has not made this video available in your country.” However, the teaser and songs are still available.

Overseas Release and Fan Reactions

Despite the uproar in India, Sardaar Ji 3 will be shown in cinemas overseas. Countries like Canada, the UK, Australia, and the Middle East are on the release list. Diljit Dosanjh has a big fan base in these places. He shared the trailer on Instagram and wrote, “Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only / FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.” The film promises action, comedy, and ghostly fun. Diljit plays Jaggi, a funny ghost hunter called to a haunted castle in the UK. He is joined by Hania Aamir and Neeru Bajwa, who play fellow ghost hunters.

The film’s music has already become popular. The soundtrack was released on June 20, 2025, and features six songs. Diljit Dosanjh sings most of the tracks. The music is available on all major platforms. Fans in India can still enjoy the songs, even though the movie will not be shown in theaters.

The FWICE has made it clear that they do not want any films with Pakistani actors released in India. They believe this is important after recent tensions. The makers of Sardaar Ji 3 decided not to release the film in India to avoid more trouble. This is not the first time a film has faced this issue. The ban on Pakistani actors has affected many projects before.

Diljit Dosanjh is known for his clean image and cross-border appeal. But this time, he is facing strong criticism. The film’s overseas release is expected to do well. Many Punjabi-speaking audiences abroad are excited to see Sardaar Ji 3. The film’s team hopes the controversy will not hurt its success outside India.
