The MBRGI spent Dh2.3 billion, reaching more than 165 million people across 122 countries. This is an increase of 16 million beneficiaries and 4 additional countries in 2025 compared to last year.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed revealed the figures on Friday, April 25, when he chaired the foundation’s annual Board of Trustees meeting and approved the year’s business report. In addition, posting on X, Sheikh Mohammed said, “the UAE has chosen the industry of hope, and chosen to build life, and chosen to stand with humanity wherever it may be.”

What Is MBRGI?

The MBRGI started in October 2015, bringing together more than 33 philanthropic efforts. Sheikh Mohammed himself has been in charge of the MBRGI. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed serves as deputy chairman, and Mohammed Al Gergawi as secretary general.

It is the largest humanitarian group of its kind in the Arab region. MBRGI operates across five major areas including humanitarian aid and relief, healthcare and disease control, spreading education and knowledge, innovation and entrepreneurship, and empowering communities.

The growth and reach have been consistent, helping over 100 million people globally, education alone accounted for over Dh599 million investment in 2024. The foundation spent Dh2.2 billion reaching 149 million people in 118 countries. The 2025 data shows a Dh100 million increase in investment compared to 2024. This marks a meaningful expansion in reach and country coverage.

Broader Context

The ongoing war disrupting trade, tourism, and economic activity across the Gulf makes the timing of this announcement deliberate. It establishes the UAE as a country that has “chosen to build life” and wants to help people when things are tough.

It also positions MBRGI’s work as a humanitarian statement and is a powerful sign that the UAE is standing up to its international commitments irrespective of regional instability.
