Dubai: US President Donald Trump threatened military action against Iran on Wednesday again about a nuclear ultimatum, saying that time was running out until Tehran signed one and that any subsequent attack would be even more devastating than the previous ones. Trump also used a social media post to encourage Iran to go back to the negotiating table, as a significant military buildup in the Middle East takes place.
Iran should soon come to the table and strike an evenhanded deal of fair play, one that will benefit all sides, NO NUCLEAR WEAPONs. Timing is ticking down, Trump tweeted, and that an armada of massive size is on its way to Iran. Based on previous US operations he cautioned: MAKE A DEAL! As I told Iran once before. They did not and there was a huge destruction of Iran, Operation Midnight Hammer. The subsequent assault will be a good deal worse!
Iran Faces A Mounting Pressure With A Nuclear Ultimatum
The upsurge in rhetoric followed the rejection of negotiations by the top diplomat of Iran due to military pressure. Diplomacy with a military threat cannot be effective and useful, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in televised statements. When they desire negotiations to be formulated, they should shelve threats, exorbitant demands and unreasonable problems. Trump has on multiple occasions left the option of new military intervention against Iran open especially after Washington had supported and joined a 12-day war in Israel in June in an attempt to undermine its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.
Trump also threatened strikes earlier this month in response to the violent crackdown by Tehran on anti-government demonstrations, but in recent days the two parties have been indicating that they are ready to give diplomacy a chance. The US has deployed major military equipment in the area even as Trump addressed talks of nuclear ultimatum.
Military Activities In The Middle East By The U.S.
Key developments at a glance:
- US air power preparedness operations were ballooned over the CENTCOM area over several days.
- USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group is presently stationed in the Middle East.
- F-15E Strike Eagles jets were deployed to the area; Typhoons of the UK deployed.
- Drills are centered on fast deployment, dispersed operations and coordination of partners.
- Joint drone threat defensive exercises by CENTCOM and Bahrain as well.
Backdrop
Economic unrest and political suppression in Iran and several rights groups estimate over 6,100 killed; some claim a much higher number. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) affirmed that a carrier strike force which was topped by the nuclear-powered USS Abraham Lincoln has been deployed to the Middle East waters but no its exact position was announced. The carrier has guided missile destroyers as escort and dozens of fighter jets and close to 5,000 sailors.
The United States has also stationed F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets in the region and the United Kingdom reportedly has relocated Typhoon jets which the officials cited as a defensive measure. Trump still very much warns Iran of the nuclear ultimatum.

Military Readiness
CENTCOM also declared the commencement of multi-day military preparedness drills throughout the Middle East on top of the naval build-up. The air component of CENTCOM, Air Forces Central (AFCENT), stated that the drills are to portray the possibility to deploy, disperse and sustain combat airpower in the area at a speedy rate.
Gen. Derek France, the AFCENT commander and the commander of the combined forces air component of CENTCOM claimed that the drills would demonstrate that the US airmen are capable of working under harsh conditions- safely, accurately and in collaboration with their allies. With a nuclear ultimatum, it is concerning keeping forces combat-ready and having airpower at hand when and where necessary, France said.
Protect Against Sudden Attacks
CENTCOM also stated that the exercises were being done in host-nation permission and in cooperation as well as in collaboration with civil and military aviation authorities and with emphasis on safety and appreciation of sovereignty. But according to the military analysts interviewed by CNN, these exercises have in the past been used as either cover to launch surprise attacks or to exert pressure on enemies to settle like a nuclear ultimatum. According to sources, Trump is also considering his alternatives and that no final decision has been reached regarding the taking of military action.
Situation In the Region
The situation has been also aggravated by the lethal crackdown on the protests that Iran had rolled out at the end of last month, which started off due to economic reasons like the devaluation of the currency. It was reported that more than 6,100 protesters have been killed till now and over 17,000 deaths are still under consideration. Thousands of deaths have been recognized by the Iranian authorities, which has been hard to independently verify due to censorship and countrywide internet blockage.
With warships on the verge of collecting, fighter jets re-aiming, military drills tightening the screw, Washington still has to put threats and diplomacy and a nuclear ultimatum on a go, and Tehran is adamant that no negotiations will be made in the shadow of the sword.
