Sharjah has moved quickly and with noticeable breadth. Sharjah Police, acting on a decision by the Sharjah Executive Council, launched a package of economic incentives on June 29, 2026. It reduces fines, permit fees, and training costs for businesses operating across the emirate. The package runs for three months from the date the decision came into force. Sharjah reduces fines by 50 percent across a wide range of categories. And the scope of what qualifies is broader than most businesses might expect.
What the Package Actually Covers
The incentives are structured across four main categories. First, security permit renewal fees for commercial activities are reduced by 50 percent. Second, subscription fees for security systems under Sharjah Police are cut by the same margin.
Third, the 50 percent reduction on fines and violations extends to all recorded penalties against economic establishments. Fourth, mandatory training programme fees, including occupational health and safety courses, are also discounted by 20 percent.
Beyond the fee cuts, the package includes several regulatory facilitations. Moreover, vehicles belonging to rental companies, educational institutions, and school bus operators are exempt from vehicle age limits and comprehensive inspection requirements.
Certain traffic code-related violations are exempt for one year, with the option to settle remaining fines in installments after the exemption period ends. Late vehicle registration renewal penalties are waived as long as the delay does not exceed one year. Furthermore, heavy vehicles may operate during project-related restriction periods with prior approval.
The Sharjah Economic Development Department also confirmed a parallel set of measures that took effect June 16. These include a 50 percent discount on issuance and renewal fees for micro-licences, covering e-commerce and Eitimad domestic licences, a 50 percent discount on industrial licence fees for food and pharmaceutical sectors, a 25 percent discount on promotional campaign permit fees, and a 25 percent discount on nursery licence fees.
Sharjah Reduces Fines: Who Benefits Most
Small and medium-sized enterprises account for the majority of businesses in Sharjah. Consequently, they stand to gain the most from this package. Every line in the incentive package targets a cost that SMEs face repeatedly: security permits, training renewals, outstanding fines.
For example, a small logistics operator would be able to take advantage of the fine reduction, the training fee discount, the exemption from vehicle inspection and the heavy vehicle restriction waiver, at the same time in the same quarter.
The package is being executed by 14 governmental bodies such as Sharjah Department of Public Works, Sharjah Police, Sharjah Electricity Water and Gas Authority, Sharjah International Airport Authority, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. They’re not just saying it, they are coordinating that.

Sharjah Reduces Fines: The Broader Context
This is not happening in isolation. Earlier this year, Dubai approved an AED 1.5 billion economic incentives package. This brings Dubai’s total business support to AED 2.5 billion across 33 measures. Sharjah reduces fines, and the package is part of the country’s general thrust of cutting costs, making doing business easier and opening up more competition for private sector investment.
The package was a strategic move to ease the process of conducting business and offer investors and entrepreneurs flexible services, the Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department, HMAD Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, said, in line with the leadership’s vision of enhancing the competitiveness of the emirate. Further, the Sharjah Police incentive information can be obtained from the call centre at 901.
The three-month window is specific and short enough to create urgency. Moreover, the package is wide enough to give most businesses at least one category of meaningful relief. Whether this translates into measurable growth in commercial activity will be clearer by October, when the exemption period ends and the data comes in.
