July 25, 2025 | Dubai, UAE – The shocking tragedy of the Russian plane crash on July 24 has shaken the world. The flight mentioned was an Antonov An-24 passenger plane. The plane was carrying close to 50 people when it crashed in Russia’s Far East on Thursday as it was preparing to land. Unfortunately, the accident left no survivors, and everyone who was on board was killed. The incident raises questions about the harms due to the continued use of old aircraft since the Soviet era.

The flight was operated by the private regional airline of Siberia, Angara. The route of the commute was Khabarovsk – Blagoveshchensk – Tynda, which was an important train junction in the Amur region. The flight was carrying 42 passengers, out of which 5 were children and 6 were crew members. One of the passengers on board is said to be a Chinese national in the Russian plane crash. The information has been broadcast by China’s state-run news agency Xinhua.

Russian Plane Crash Tragedy: 48 Killed in Far East

The regional governor and the federal officers have confirmed the death of all 48 people, resulting from the Russian plane crash. Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry said that they had found the plane’s burning fuselage on a hillside south of its planned destination in the town of Tynda.

“A Mi-8 helicopter operated by Rosaviatsiya has spotted the burning fuselage of the aircraft,” the Emergencies ministry said on Telegram.

Russian Plane Crash Cause Due to Aging?

After failing the first touchdown, the aeroplane was attempting a second landing when the accident took place. The search helicopter found the aeroplane’s burning fuselage after it disappeared from the radar screen. The fuselage was made in 1976 and worked for almost 50 years. One of the possible reasons for the Russian plane crash has been reported by the TASS news agency, which states that the error by the plane’s crew during the landing, due to poor visibility, could have caused the unfortunate accident.

This raises several questions about the flight operations made in the Soviet Era. It concerns the viability of using such flights into such harsh and far corners of Russia. The saddening incident also alerted other countries using the An-24 aircraft as well.

Global Condolences To Russia In Unprecedented Grief

According to the authoritative Russian Planes web-portal, North Korea, Kazakhstan, Laos, Cuba, Ethiopia, Myanmar and Zimbabwe have been prompted to review their flights post the tragic Russian plane crash.

Chinese President Xi Jinping also extended his condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the heavy casualties caused by the tragic Russian plane crash. Xi said that he was shocked to learn about the passenger plane that had crashed in Russia’s Amur Region, causing heavy casualties. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, he conveyed deep condolences over the loss of lives and sent sincere sympathies to the bereaved families affected by the grief of the Russian plane crash incident.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to his X to convey his sincere solidarity in times of grief during the Russian plane crash and sent his condolences to the affected family.

Modi tweeted, “Deeply saddened at the loss of lives in the tragic plane crash in Russia. Extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We stand in solidarity with Russia and its people.”

An-24 And The Angara Airlines

Russian Plane Crash Tragedy: 48 Killed in Far East

Angara Airlines, which is based in Irkutsk, operates the An-24. The flights have been a reliable commute, facing Siberia’s harsh conditions, but they have been constantly questioned for their efficiency due to their age. Almost 1340 of the aircraft were built in the 1970s, out of which only 75 are operational today. Despite concerns and complaints, replacements like the Ladoga have not begun mass production and plan to do so no sooner than 2027. The investigation of the Russian plane crash tragedy has begun as Moscow set up a commission for the same. Further details about the incident are not currently disclosed.
