His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has granted SWS Board Technology the Dubai-it Award for Projects in the Field of Economy.

The Crown Prince of Dubai commended the company for transforming an ambitious idea into one of the world’s most sophisticated production hubs of advanced technologies.

Established by entrepreneur Rainier Nouhra, the Dubai-based industrial facility has acquired international recognition for its high precision composite fabrication and worldwide market presence.

Powering World Sports from a Dubai Manufacturing Hub

Dubai-based SWS Board Technology produces nearly half of the world’s kiteboards and wakeboards and a third of all snowboards globally.

The company’s production capacity exceeds 450,000 units per year. Its products are exported to major international sports brands worldwide.

Over six million of these products have been created in Dubai and are present on the globe’s most prestigious athletic competitions’ podiums, including the Winter Olympic Games.

Championing Eco-Friendly Manufacturing and Solar Power

In addition to the quantity of products, SWS Board Technology also focuses on implementing green manufacturing processes in the sports equipment market worldwide. The company’s production facilities are powered by solar energy.

The company has invested in cutting-edge circular economy equipment that allows the recycling of up to 95 percent of the materials used in the production of a surfboard. These initiatives highlight the company’s commitment to the environment and prove that high-end production and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Embodying the Spirit of the Dubai-it Economic Vision

While presenting the award, the Sheikh underlined that SWS Board Technology is an excellent example of how the spirit of the “Dubai-it” concept is implemented by finding a solution when others see only problems.

The minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammad Al Gergawi, noted that the project, which was built in a desert several decades ago, is now one of the largest exporters of action sports equipment in the world. He explained that by virtue of Dubai’s excellent logistical capabilities and trade potential, the company’s success contributes to the growth of the city’s profile as a competitive manufacturing hub at the national and global levels.
