Paramount to this, the transportation authority (RTA) is upgrading traffic infrastructure in the city by increasing the capacity of Hessa Street, an important east-west roadway from 4,000 to 8,000 vehicles per hour. This means that the Dubai RTA project travel times would be reduced by over 75 percent, and the city’s road capacity would be extended by over 10 minutes.

According to the reports Dubai  RTA project is progressing with the Al Fay Street Corridor Project, a mobility route to Al Khail Road, the Umm Suqeim Street Development (a 4.6-kilometre road length), and the redesign of the Trade Centre Roundabout with flying bridges and new signalization, so that driver efficiency is increased in a densely populated region.

In addition to the internal congestion that will be freed, the bridge will give commuters an alternate route.

Another huge multi-phase project is the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement, covering a distance of 13 km from Deira to Bur Dubai. It aims to reduce travel time from an unbelievable 104 minutes to 16 minutes by focusing on 15 intersections and locations that impact cultural heritage. The Dubai RTA project plans to do this to ease traffic into less congested areas and to make the overall journey better for commuters.

Sustainable Growth, Economic And Environmental Benefits

The recommended improvements to RTA traffic patterns will enhance both the quality of life of the citizens of Dubai and the environmental and economic sustainability. Thus, Dubai can continue to grow sustainably and improve traffic security, mobility, and congestion by first focusing on the livability and quality of life of its residents.

The more RTA commits to these goals, the better Dubai’s transportation will be. By focusing on livability and quality of life, the Dubai RTA project will be much better placed to develop systems that are efficient, safe and more sustainable for residents and visitors alike.
