Initial investigations showed the bus driver was distracted. “He was not maintaining the required distance,” Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the Traffic Department at Dubai Police, said. Because of this, the bus hit the truck from the back.

Emirates Road Accident: A Recurring Pattern
This is not the first incident of its kind. A roadside layover led to a fatal chain collision on a Dubai highway. In May 2026, a lorry hit a bus transporting workers in Dubai. It killed one person and injured 19. This incident occurred along Al Yalayis Road. It was near Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Road Bridge. That road runs towards Emirates Road.
That bus had also stopped on the road. The reason was technical problems. Taken together, the two incidents occurred weeks apart. The conditions were almost identical. These incidents highlight a pattern. Dubai Police has repeatedly emphasized that such incidents are preventable.
The names of the Emirates Road accident victims are not officially released yet. Investigations are ongoing. The Indian Consulate has acknowledged that they are still in touch with local authorities to support the families affected.
