If your company attests commercial invoices or certificates of origin through the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the platform you have been using no longer exists. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on users of the eDAS system to transition fully to the upgraded version, eDAS 2.0, replacing the previous eDAS 1.0, which has been decommissioned effective June 8, 2026. The announcement was made by WAM, the UAE’s official state news agency. For businesses involved in trade and imports, this is an immediate operational change.
What eDAS Is and Why It Matters
eDAS (Electronic Document Attestation System) is a cutting-edge platform developed to provide document attestation automation for UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The initiative falls under the UAE’s vision of digital government and the UAE Smart Government Programme, which aims to simplify government services and eliminate bureaucracy by leveraging digital solutions and data. In particular, it deals with the attestation of commercial invoices and certificates of origin which are legally required documents in the UAE for trade transactions.
This is not optional for most importers. Under Cabinet Resolution No. 38 of 2022, electronic attestation has become mandatory for goods imported into the UAE valued at AED 10,000 and above, effective from February 1, 2023. Any business importing goods above that threshold must use the eDAS platform to attest its invoices. Furthermore, under eDAS 2.0, the requirement to manually enter the MoFA attestation number in the Dubai Customs Declaration System has been removed, improving efficiency and encouraging wider adoption of the updated platform.

Why eDAS 1.0 Is Being Retired
The numbers make the case plainly. The shift to eDAS 2.0 in 2024, including major changes in the attestation process, reduced the service time from 12 minutes to just 2 minutes. Over 1 million transactions have been processed through the system, reducing the need for human intervention by 80 percent. More than 50 percent of the total number of attested documents are now processed through eDAS, with projections showing this figure could reach 89 percent.
The environmental impact is also measurable. The eDAS system has saved 1.3 million sheets of paper, equivalent to 142 trees, and reduced approximately 10.03 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Compliance with attestation requirements improved dramatically, rising from 6 percent to 98 percent since the system’s introduction. With eDAS 2.0 already delivering those results, retaining the older version as a parallel option served no operational purpose. The decommissioning of eDAS 1.0 removes that redundancy entirely.
The transition also directly supports the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme. The exclusive adoption of eDAS 2.0 aligns with the programme’s objectives by streamlining procedures, reducing processing time and effort, and minimising the number of fields and steps required to access the service.
How to Register on eDAS 2.0
For businesses not yet on the new platform, the registration process is straightforward. To register on eDAS 2.0, create your company’s primary account using your Trade License at the MoFA official portal. Once approved, user accounts are created using UAE Pass. Users then log in through UAE Pass, submit attestation requests, review invoice or certificate of origin data, select transactions to attest, and complete payment. Upon completion, a digitally attested invoice is issued. If a physical stamp is required, documents can be uploaded for a MoFA seal at no additional charge.
The platform is accessible at mofa.gov.ae/en/services/edas-attestation-v2. For support, the Business Relations Support Team can be reached at 06 506 8888. Businesses still operating on eDAS 1.0 as of June 8 will need to migrate immediately to avoid disruption to their attestation workflow.
