July 1, 2025 | Dubai, UAE – Beginning in 2019, the golden visa of UAE was initially meant to attract foreign investments and talents for long term residency is now expanded to include five new categories of professions. 2025 brings new upgrades made to the resident golden visa of UAE, primarily for capitals and investments in UAE’s real estate, to include specialized talents for development across sectors.
The Ministry of Economy outlines the benefits granted by the golden visa of UAE.
- An entry visa for six months with multiple entries
- A long-term, renewable residence visa valid for 5 or 10 years
- No need for a sponsor
- Stay outside the UAE for more than six months to keep their residence visa valid
- Provides structural flexibility so the individuals can transition freely with no ties to a single employer
- Residents can also liquidate their initial fundings and invest them into different avenues
- Sponsor their family members, including spouses and children and unlimited number of domestic helpers
- The permit for family members to stay in the UAE until the end of their permit duration, even if the primary holder of the Golden visa passes away.
The Changes Made To The Golden Visa In 2025

The golden visa of UAE will now be expanded to be inclusive of specialised talent globally, especially the ones centric to fields such as artificial intelligence, climate technology, and digital innovation. The post pandemic shift narrowed UAE’s focus on building a future-ready workforce aligned with national development goals instead of an investment-driven approach.
The golden visa of UAE will now include the below mentioned professions in addition to earlier ones –
- Healthcare Professionals: The golden visa of UAE will acknowledge nurses and other medical staff with long-term services as eligible.
- Educators: Teachers and academics who have excelled in their field will be deemed eligible.
- Digital Content Creators: individuals contributing to the digital world, like influencers and film-makers are included in the updated eligibility.
- E-sports Professionals: Professionals in the competitive digital gaming and esports industry are now eligible, although they would require accreditation from entities like Dubai Culture.
- Luxury Yacht Owners: Owners of luxury yachts exceeding 40 meters in length are also included in the new rules of golden visa of UAE.
Earlier this eligibility was exclusively extended to only four categories of individuals – investors, entrepreneurs, researchers and specialised talents in various fields, and proficient students with promising scientific aptitude.

Apart from these other changes made in 2025 in the outlines. Prior to the changes, Golden Visa applicants through real estate needed at least 50% equity in a property worth AED 2 million (~ $545,000). However now applicants can qualify with a 20% down payment on a mortgage, providing more ease.
Gaurav Keswani, the founder and managing director of an advisory firm with expertise in company formation and visa services, states that the UAE is now actively targeting professionals in emerging technology and sustainability sectors.
Data from 2023 reveals that 158,000 Golden Visa of UAE were granted in Dubai alone, with breakdown of the recipients profile. 40% of the recipients were investors however the majority 60% belonged to other high value sectors, whereas 22% of individuals hailed from banking and non-banking backgrounds including AI, and Climate change centered positions.
UAE’s Target Of Development Through Execution

UAE’s vision of cementing the nation as a global center for finance and innovation has been reinforced with 8 out of top 20 global hedge funds landing in the region with an investment of around $48 billion. This capital surge has increased demand for skilled executives to manage and lead the plan.
Keshwani further remarks that the government has realized that investment alone is not enough to build a sustainable economy. Now the focus is also on seeking individuals who can shape this economy along with funding it.
UAE is directed towards Asia-Pacific talents to anchor itself as a bridge to the eastern and western worlds.
