Government of Fujairah and Etihad Refinery’s long-term partnership tends to strengthen energy security, support sustainable economic growth and improve Fujairah’s role as a global energy and petroleum hub.
Government of Fujairah Signs Landmark Energy Agreement
In its recent move, the Government of Fujairah signed a strategic agreement with Etihad Refinery, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etihad Energy Holding PJSC, for the sale of gasoline production from the refinery. This agreement, which was disclosed on July 7, 2026, is a crucial milestone toward building the energy sector of the emirate, underpinning its long-term economic growth and sustainability.
This partnership will tactfully demonstrate how the Government of Fujairah is enabling the development of strategic energy projects, enhancing fuel security levels, and proving the emirate’s competitive standing as one of the leading regional and global centers for oil-related industries and logistics.
Government of Fujairah Focuses on Energy Security and Growth
According to His Excellency Mohammed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Emiri Diwan in Fujairah, this fits into the long-term vision of the Government of Fujairah, aiming at improving energy security and expanding the role of the emirate on the international stage in the energy sector.
In this context, he also pointed out that the agreement would add to the capability of sustainable economic development by increasing partnerships in developing various sectors toward an even better setup of Fujairah’s energy infrastructure.

Long-Term Framework to Support Etihad Refinery
The agreement provides a long-term commercial framework to purchase the gasoline output of the Etihad Refinery. It is therefore expected to improve long-term sustainability, strengthen the petroleum supply chain, and play a part in the UAE’s strategy for expanding value-adding downstream industries.
Generally, the Government of Fujairah intends to seek commercially viable partnerships, which will support the continued investment in the development of the energy infrastructure, therefore contributing towards broader national goals of industrial development.
Etihad Refinery to Produce Euro 5-Compliant Gasoline
According to the details, the first phase of the Etihad Refinery will have to design capacity of approx. 15,000 barrels per day. This refinery will mainly process naphtha to manufacture Euro 5-compliant gasoline and other refined petroleum products that will be designed to meet the increasing demand locally and regionally.
In general, the project is expected to improve fuel availability and contribute to raising standards in the production of cleaner, high-quality fuels across the region.

Government of Fujairah Strengthens Position as Global Energy Hub
The latest agreement lends additional support to the Government of Fujairah’s strategy of positioning the emirate as a key energy infrastructure, refining and petroleum logistics hub. By supporting strategic projects like the Etihad Refinery, Fujairah continues to enhance its role in regional energy security and contribute to sustainable economic development.
This also underlines the commitment of the emirate’s bid to establish significantly resilient energy supply chains and long-term investment in the downstream petroleum sectors.
