Afghanistan had lost two early wickets in the power play. Atal and Mohammad Nabi stabilized the innings by putting on a crucial 51-run partnership for the third wicket. Controlled gameplay and a high strike rate by Afghan batsmen kept the pressure on Hong Kong throughout the innings.

Hong Kong’s Collapse in the Chase

When Hong Kong started batting, the pressure of chasing a big total was there in the game between Afghanistan vs Hong Kong. The Afghan bowlers attacked from the start with Fazalhaq Farooqi and Azmatullah Omarzai ripping through the top order. Hong Kong had lost four wickets in the first six overs and was duly disappointing at the end of the powerplay at 23/4.

With Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan, and Noor Ahmad stopping Hong Kong from scoring completely throughout the middle overs, the wickets kept rolling, and Hong Kong was unable to put together any meaningful partnerships. Their innings finally came to a halt at 94 for nine wickets after 20 overs. The Afghan bowlers all shared the wickets, maintaining superb lines while the fielders kept their own end sharp.
