Morocco vs Norway result: Morocco drew 1-1 with Norway in New Jersey

Morocco drew 1-1 with Norway at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey on Sunday night. Brahim Diaz scored after 7 minutes. Martin Odegaard answered in the 75th minute. Both teams now head to the 2026 World Cup with fitness worries. Morocco lost two key players to injury. Norway showed they can fight back without their main striker scoring.

First Half Summary

The lions started fast and took control. They played with high tempo and quick passes. Norway looked slow in the first 20 minutes. Diaz was everywhere for Morocco. He drifted between lines and caused problems.

Abde Ezzalzouli gave the assist for the opener. He cut the ball back and Diaz fired low into the corner. Morocco kept pushing. Ezzalzouli had a shot saved by the keeper. He also saw another effort blocked. Norway struggled to build from the back.

Alexander Sorloth missed a close range header that should have gone in. The atlas lions looked sharper but lost two men. Noussair Mazraoui limped off in the 29th minute. Ezzalzouli followed him at halftime. That changed the mood.

Morocco vs Norway: Turning Point

The game flipped in the 75th minute. The atlas lions made several subs after the break and lost rhythm. Norway brought on fresh legs. Oscar Bobb came on and made an impact fast. He slid the ball to Odegaard inside the box.

The Arsenal captain finished with his left foot. 1-1. Norway had been poor for 60 minutes but they grew after that goal. Morocco sat back and tried to hold on.

The subs killed their flow. Walid Regragui rotated his squad to protect legs for the World Cup. It cost them control. The draw felt fair but the atlas lions will feel they let it slip after such a strong start.

Player Performance

Man of the match: Brahim Diaz. He scored and ran the first half. He was the most dangerous player on the pitch while he lasted. The lions will need that version of him against Brazil.

Best performer: Martin Odegaard. He was quiet for most of the game. He saved Norway with one moment of class. He dictated the tempo after Norway pushed up. That is why he wears the armband.

Weakest performer: Erling Haaland. The Moroccan back line marked him out of the game. He played 72 minutes and barely had a touch. He needs service and the lions gave him none.

What It Means

Morocco vs Norway ended as a hard fought draw. It was the last test before the World Cup for both sides. Morocco qualified for Group C and face Brazil next on June 13 or 14. The injuries to Mazraoui and Ezzalzouli are the real story now.

Norway returned to the World Cup for the first time since 1998. They meet Iraq on June 17. The second half comeback gives them belief. The atlas lions will take the first half positives but leave with questions over fitness. Both coaches got what they wanted. Minutes in the legs and a look at the bench.
